Hello all,
Well
this week really has been a wild ride of craziness and miracles. The
guy who was supposed to get baptized this last Saturday; didn´t end up
getting baptized. He said that he was too worried about not being
ready. He wants to get to know the church better, go more often and
receive more answers that this church is the true church. He had an
awesome experience at church the week before. We talked to him about
the atonement and what it means for us. We talked about how we need to
remember Christ and His sacrifice. We told him that through the
atonement we can remember Christ. That it is a sacred time for us to
reflect on our personal relationship with God. We invited him to pray
during the sacrament to get his answer if this was the true church. We
went to church, the classes weren´t too weird and off topic, the music
wasn´t too bad, but the spirit was super strong. He said that he prayed
during the sacrament if this was the true church. He said after that,
he had an intimate experience with God. That he received his answer.
But, the problem is that he wants more answers. It’s crazy because we
are on our knees every day asking God what we should do for him because
he has been taught everything and knows the information. We figured
that this Sunday would be his ¨Test¨ because it was probably going to
rain. FYI When it rains in Paraguay, nobody does anything. Everyone
just sits in their houses and waits for the rain to stop. If you leave
your house everyone thinks you’re crazy. We decided that this would be
Sergio´s test; to go to church in the rain. We went to go find an
investigator that we had taught earlier in the week to bring to church
but he wasn´t there. So we started to head to the chapel and it
starting pouring rain. We got about three fourths of the way there and
we stopped to see if the rain was going to stop. And who should turn
around the corner, but Sergio, walking in the rain with our good member
friend Edgar, and heading towards the church. It was a sweet testimony
to me that we need to keep fighting and praying to help Sergio be
baptized.
Also
another sweet miracle that we had was that we found a guy this last
week named Jorge. He is a 24 year old guy who has a lot of friends who
are returned missionaries. We weren´t able to really talk with him this
last week because he was sick every day. We didn´t know if he was
going to end up coming to church. We passed by with a member on
Monday. A youth that just loves going to church, his name is Ki Kin.
KiKin invited Jorge to come to church, but after that we didn’t see
Jorge during the week. We woke up Sunday to have a text from Jorge
saying that he was getting ready to go to church, but he wouldn´t go if
it was raining. WE didn´t think that Jorge would end up going to
church, especially when it started pouring. When we got to the church
we went in and he was sitting there singing with the priesthood
holders. HE CAME!"!!!!! He said that right when he was getting to
leave his house it stopped raining. He said that it was a sign that he
should go to church. He also said that when he got to church it started
raining again. He said that he felt that god told him that the church
was where he should be going. So he said that he would come to church
next week, rain or snow.
We
have a lot of other people that are progressing and are planning on
getting baptized this month. We are super excited for the success that
we are going to see this month. Now we just have to help all the other
missionaries in the Zone have the same faith and excitement. We
actually had today a leadership counsel. Usually it is only with the
ZONE leaders but this would be President Callan´s last time to talk to
us as missionaries in a group and so he invited all the District leaders
as well. It was super amazing. We talked a lot about the goals that
we have as missionaries and about faith. About showing our faith to the
Lord. The only thing that I have to say is that President Callan is
going to be in the quorum of the seventy. I know that he is!!!!. He is
so amazing and spiritual. He knows what it takes to get things done. I
am so thankful for him and his desire to help missionaries learn to be
obedient, love the Lord, and help His children. I am so grateful to have
known him. He really has changed my life and my mission. I´m glad
that I can help the new president see that we as a mission will be
obedient and work hard in the vineyard of the Lord. I know that it is
what the Lord wants us to do and He will bless us as long on we continue
to do His will. I love this work. I love the mission. I love the
Lord. I know that I am here in this mission, with this calling, with
this companion for a reason. The Lord prepared me before coming to this
world to be who I am supposed to be. I know that the Lord will help us
fulfill our callings and find blessings in our lives as long as we stay
obedient and love Him. I love you all and hope you have a super
fantastic week.
